Mobility & Independent Living
Products that help people move and carry out daily tasks with appropriate independence.

Products considered
Define the activity, intended user abilities, environment and any fitting or assistance required. Identify the model and relevant load conditions. Implants and life-support products are outside the programme.
The assessment
What reviewers consider
- Does the product suit the users’ abilities and the environment described?
- Do task findings support the claimed contribution to movement or independence?
- Can people fit, adjust and use it, with assistance clearly identified?
- Are stability, maintenance, repair and limits on independent use addressed?
Your application
Prepare for this category
- Model specifications, fitting information, load limits and relevant environments
- Task findings and performance or safety material relevant to the intended users
- Instructions covering setup, adjustments, transfers or movement as applicable
- Details of assistance, space requirements, cleaning, consumables, repair and support
Evidence and everyday use
Describe the task from the user’s point of view and say who performs each step. A product used with caregiver help should not be presented as supporting independent use unless the evidence addresses that claim.
